I’m looking to have two internal downstairs walls removed as part of a renovation project.
Remove two internal walls
Install RSJs to support the first-floor joists above.
Ideally, RSJs to be seated on existing external/internal walls rather than supported by posts, if possible of course.
RSJs can sit under the level of the joists and be boxed in afterwards.
House is 1960s build.
External walls: mass concrete, approx. 10 inches thick.
Internal walls: approx. 4-inch block/concrete (uncertain if block or concrete).
Upstairs walls: hollow partitions only (no blockwork supported by the walls to be removed).
Joists run perpendicular to the walls being removed.
